MIPEG crane monitoring systems

The MIPEG 2000 crane monitoring system can operate as a simple electronic crane load indicator or as a monitoring and recording system. Sparrows are proud to hold sales and service agreements with the MIPEG 2000’s manufacturer, AADI (Aanderaa Data Instruments AS) to bring enhanced standards of safety to crane operation.

The MIPEG 2000 combines safety with crane maintenance by recording and then storing complete analysis from each individual lift and cumulatively over the life of the crane as:

• Dynamic and static hook load
• Dynamic and static over turning moment
• Radius and number of falls
• Sea condition and duration of the lift
• Operational data

The MIPEG 2000 data can be downloaded to a standard laptop. The MIPEG’s load sensors at the boom tip measure both the static load and the peak load during each lift and pass the information to the central computer. Simultaneously, the MIPEG’s Inclinometer at the boom foot measures boom angle and translates this into operating radius. This allows the computer to constantly monitor the safe working load (SWL) at any given radius.

Four operator LCD displays show:

• Actual hook load
• Hook operating radius
• Sea state or lifting condition
• Safe Working Load (SWL)

Rope speed and direction system (RSI)

The MIPEG RSI has been designed to give the crane operator information on hook position and movement.

• Assists and makes ‘blind’ crane lifting operation safer
• Displays hook position, speed and rope lengths in or out
• Control signals for anti-two block and rope end position
• Can provide ton/mile records

Slew Operation Limit Monitor 3D

The system monitors and will warn the operator if the crane approaches the slew limits, clockwise (CW) limit or the Counter Clockwise (CCW) limit.

• Warns the operator if entering into limited sectors
• Keeps track of the maximum slew positions
• Can provide anti-collision warning signals
