Sparrows ‘idols’ raise over £1,700 for local charity

10/01/2011

Last Christmas while trying to think of an unusual way for Sparrows to raise money for Aberdeen’s Cash for Kids charity, Senior Contract Support Engineer, Pietro Fong, hit upon an usual idea, "let’s make a pop video!"

After receiving support from senior management, Pietro and Marketing Manager, Kirsty Gunn began to spread the word that they were looking for a special brand of ‘Sparrows Idols’ to sing Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’. The level of enthusiasm to take part was astounding. People from numerous departments stepped forward to the mic to sing in the chorus or take a solo line. Even the video shoot brought out the surprise hidden show-business in some people, making it a great team effort from all involved.

The final cut worked out better than everyone imagined and Sparrows have set a benchmark which will be really challenging to equal in 2011.

To date, the video had raised over £1,700; massive thanks to all who gave up their valuable time to take part for a very worthy cause.
