IMechE accreditation for James

03/08/2009

Sparrows has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the further advancement of its engineers with another successful completion of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) MPDS development scheme by one of its engineering graduates.

The IMechE monitored professional development scheme (MPDS) is a three year programme (for candidates aiming for incorporated status) which provides engineering graduates with a platform to help cement the foundations for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status. It is also internationally recognised by engineers as an essential accreditation to signify ones engineering ability in today’s highly competitive market place. Incorporated Engineers provide a significant influence on the overall effectiveness of the organisation in which they work, including key positions in operational management roles.

The accreditation recently gained by Contract Support Engineer James Marr will further enhance the Sparrows engineering team’s capability to develop and deliver solutions to mechanical handling challenges. Graduate engineers actively seek organisations who offer the (IMechE) MPDS scheme as it underlines the significant importance a company places on the ongoing development of its engineers.

On receiving the news of his achievement, James commented, “I am very proud to be awarded registration as an Incorporated Engineer by the IMechE Engineering Council (UK). The MPDS scheme is of great importance to me and is recognition of my professional status and will also be a great example to younger engineering graduates who, like me, should strive to continue lifelong learning throughout their career. This accreditation is also of great significance to our clients as it indicates the high standards of engineering excellence we adhere to at Sparrows.”

IMechE focal point to James, John McSherry added, “Sparrows is delighted James has completed the IMechE programme and that he has agreed to also become a mentor for others who are studying to complete the scheme. As in my own personal experience it can be highly rewarding and satisfying to know you are promoting engineering to the wider community through new graduates joining the company.

“We currently have approx 30 engineers undertaking the IMechE scheme and with the guidance of James and other mentors I look forward to presenting more certificates in the future.”
