1 Day Course Target Audience

Crane inspectors, riggers, crane maintainers and any other personnel involved with inspection, maintenance and understanding of wire rope usage and construction.

Training Outcome

This training course is designed to provide delegates with a better knowledge and understanding of the legal responsibilities and practical content required to carry out in-service inspection on various types and construction of wire rope.

Introduction: Instructor/trainee; Training Centre emergency procedures; Appraisal of delegate experience Health & Safety Legislation: Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974; S.I. 2307 Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment; Regulations 1998; Codes of Practice; HSE Guidance Notes; British Standards; MHSWR Risk Assessment Process; Other supporting legislation and standards Introduction to Wire Rope Examination: Understanding and identifying the main operations of examination of wire rope.

Practical sections

Procedure for Inspection of Wire Rope: Working knowledge, inspection and discard criteria of wire rope. Wire Rope Manufacture: Working knowledge on the history and the manufacture of wire rope Wire Rope Construction: Ability to understand the differences in wire rope construction Selection of Wire Rope: To understand the selection requirements when choosing a wire rope.
