Rigging Loft Management

2 Day Training Course 

Target Audience Rigging loft controllers, their assistants and any other personnel involved with the day to day running and operation of a rigging loft.

Training Outcome: This training course is designed to provide delegates with a better knowledge and understanding of the legal and practical requirements in running an operational rigging loft, from controlling the issue and receiving of rigging loft equipment to carrying out pre-use inspections and the disposal and quarantine of unfit for use equipment.

Introduction:

• S.I. 2307 Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment;
• Regulations 1998;
• Codes of Practice;
• HSE Guidance Notes;
• British Standards;
• MHSWR Risk Assessment Process;
• Other supporting legislation and standards

Introduction to Rigging Loft Operations:

• Awareness of and better understanding of the main working operations of a rigging loft

Procedure for the Control of Quarantined Equipment:

• Working knowledge of quarantine procedures

Equipment Register and Control Documents:

• Understanding of an equipment register list;
• Information required to inform supplier of defects

Practical Section

Portable Lifting Gear Examination Procedures:

• Signing out and inspecting safe for use of various equipment

Inspection of Lifting Equipment:

• Inspect various equipment in rigging loft

Final Examinations

• Delegate undertakes final examination
